Feeling Foggy

We’ve had a fair share of foggy mornings the last few months, but the other day was the worst fog I’ve ever driven in. Making it worse was that it was still dark. Fortunately, my Jeep is equipped with excellent fog lights and they lit up the sides of the road, as well as, the road ahead. Even then, I struggled and had to focus intently on where I was going.

Shortly after I started, a car turned behind me. He didn’t have fog lights and his headlights were dull, but he quickly caught up to me. I was amazed and suddenly felt like a horrible driver. Why was I having to drive so slow with great lights and this guy drove fast with barely any lights? Then I realized… he was using me and my lights to find his way!

The world around us is like that dark foggy morning. As time goes on it gets worse, but this isn’t a shock;

“But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.” II Timothy‬ ‭3:1-7‬

More and more people are groping in the darkness, struggling to find the way;

“They grope in the dark without light, And He makes them stagger like a drunken man.” Job‬ ‭12:25‬

As the world gropes in this darkness they desperately need light and we are blessed by God to be His light;

““You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.” Matthew‬ ‭5:14‬

Never underestimate just how important this is. Never feel as though you serve no purpose. For our purpose is crystal clear. We serve the most high God by reflecting His light so others may follow us to Him just like that car followed me. When they see His light in us they will see Him.

Amazingly, this requires no special talent. It requires no special occupation. It requires only one thing;

“While you have the light, believe in the light, that you may become sons of light.” These things Jesus spoke, and departed, and was hidden from them.” John‬ ‭12:36‬

By believing in the Light we automatically become His light. Now just walk in the Light and others will follow. What a blessing we have to lead others to Him. So turn on the fog lights and roll on!
