From co-workers to social media.  From schools to Hollywood.  From the ‘elite’ to our neighbor.  The world is against Christians.  This is no surprise as Jesus warned us;

““If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. Remember the word that I said to you, ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they kept My word, they will keep yours also.” John‬ ‭15:18-20‬ ‭

The world is against us because they hate Him who we represent.  While it is difficult and we may wonder if it is worth it because we don’t see the world getting better Jesus tells us to press on;

““But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me. And you also will bear witness, because you have been with Me from the beginning.” John‬ ‭15:26-27‬

We can press on and represent Jesus because the Helper (Holy Spirit) lives in us.  Jesus tells us we need to give testimony to who we are in Him.  The world will continue to hate us, but we will lead others out of the world into the Light;

““You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew‬ ‭5:14-16‬

But, living for Christ in the face of the world’s hatred takes courage, just as Joshua was told;

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”” Joshua‬ ‭1:9‬

Indeed, God is with us- in fact, He’s in us! This allows us to be courageous.   Rely on the Holy Spirit to help you live a life in Christ- one that the world will hate, but one that courageously shows the light of Christ to all around- the darker the day becomes the brighter His light will shine in those with the courage to let it shine.
